David C. Greene was born November 13, 1938 in Hendersonville, N.C. to Anita and Henry Greene.  He was the oldest of nine children; four sisters and four brothers.  His family later moved to Harlem, New York.   The family later moved upstate to Elmira, NY.   David’s education continued at Elmira Free Academy, where he excelled in sports, and received numerous scholarships to colleges.  He first accepted a scholarship to Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL and after one year he transferred to Texas Southern University in Houston Texas.  He played football and ran track for TSU until he received a knee injury while playing against Grambling State University; that  injury ended his football days.

David returned to Elmira, NYand later enlisted in the U.S. Navy.   He served ten years as an Aerographer’s Mate 2nd Class.  After returning to Elmira, NY he met and married his beautiful wife, Louise Butts on August 25th 1966.  To this union was born five children, three daughters, Eleane, Lillian and Veronica, two sons, Maurice and Derrick.  They have six grandchildren, Jamal, Tiara, Ciara, Kiana, Autie Jr. and Neha.

He moved from Elmira, NY to San Diego,CA in 1966 and united with Bayview Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. L.L. Henderson.  He sang in the choir and taught a youth Sunday school class.  Later he decided to help Rev. W.E. Manley as his organizer for Greater Life Baptist Church.  David accepted the Lord into his life one Friday night at a home Bible Study group taught by Rev. H.L. Farrell.

He was called into the ministry as a preacher at Greater Life B.C, in 1972.  When Rev. Farrell organized Grace Baptist Church, Rev. D.C. Greene joined and served there until October 1979.  Then the Lord called him to organize New Jerusalem Baptist Church, he stayed there until 1990.  In 1990 he was called to ministry at Linda Vista Second Baptist.

It was while he was at New Jerusalem that he began his Theological studies. He attended Linda Vista Bible College and Southern California Bible College and Seminary.  Later he attended Bethel Baptist Seminary of San Diego, CA, where  he completed his courses and received his Bachelor of Theology.  He completed his Masters of Theology at Bethel Baptist Seminary of San Diego and Andersonville Baptist Seminary College of Camille,  Ga.  He received his Doctorate of Philosophy (PHD) in Religious education and a Doctorate of  Divinity (DD) from Andersonville Bible College and Seminary, in Camille.Ga.

Pastor Greene has received numerous certificates and awards from the College of Extended studies for Techniques of Teaching, and a University Community Leadership award, from San Diego State University.  He is an Honored member of the Heritage Registry as Who’s Who and has received many more local and state certificates.

Dr. David C. Greene is presently Moderator of the Southwest District Association, Vice President of the Congress of Christian Education of WBSC, Vice President of Western State Convention and a member of the National Baptist Convention USA Incorporated.

Pastor Greene has been at Linda Vista Second Baptist for 25 years serving the Lord graciously.  He is leading Linda Vista Second Baptist Church to a higher level of God’s Blessing as they prepare to build a new Church for the Lord.
